Baby Photography in Wakefield – Family Photography, Barnsley

Well, its nearly the end of the year, and today was my last photo session before Christmas (only due to printing deadlines – I’d be shooting right up till the 24th if I could!!).

I met Natalie and her gorgeous son at their pretty house just outside Wakefield this morning for some last minute christmas photos.  I think I am in love…

There is still just enough time for Gift Vouchers, and I’m offering a special offer for newborns in the new years so subscribe to the blog to be the first to hear about it.

Happy Christmas

Sisters, Sisters… Family Photographer, South Yorkshire

I love photographing teenagers.  They’re usually quite reserved at first but then really get into the spirit of it and you end up with some really natural photos.  These two sisters were no different, quiet at first and a little self conscious.. but as they got used to the camera they relaxed and we got some beautiful shots.  They were such lovely girls too!

www.roobarbgifts.co.uk – Commercial Photographer, Huddersfield

I had such a lovely time at Roobarb Gifts, in Marsden (Huddersfield) this morning, with Sarah & her beautiful shop.  Roobarb Gifts sell unique gifts & home interior accessories, and it’s the most gorgeous, pretty little shop ever.  I want to move there, or else get Sarah come and design the interior of my house!  Anyway, the idea was to do a little portfolio work and Sarah was originally going to bring some of her own handmade gifts to me, so i could shoot them.  However once I took a look at her cute website I knew that I needed some photos of the interior of the shop and all the delicious goodies inside.  See what you think:

Sarah also has a blog – where she’s running a comptetition to win one of the candles in the photo’s above…visit her blog for a chance to win the prize!

PriorityK Christmas Photoshoot – Commercial Photographer, Wakefield

I met with Katy & her models to do some photos of her latest dress collection on Sunday. The weather was very sunny but so very cold. The models were frozen (click here for the behind the scenes photos on facebook) but brilliant and the hot chocolate (with marshmallows and sprinkles) more than made up for my numb fingers…

You can find Katy here www.prioritykclothing.co.uk

Look out later in the week for more commercial work, as I meet with Sarah from Roobard Gifts in Huddersfield to photograph some of her collection.

Christmas Traditions – Family Photographer, Leeds, Yorkshire

As a kid I loved Christmas traditions and my Mum put in a lot of effort each year to make Christmas special. Many of them weren’t costly or difficult but they added to the festive feeling of the season. I suppose because you only do them once a year its all the more special.

Ever since then I’ve longed for that feeling again, and though I now know its not quite as magical as it once seemed, there’s no reason why I can’t make it like that for my family. It honestly wasn’t about what presents I got …though the BMX I got one year as a suprise was pretty special… it was more about the experience.

  • We used to light advent candles every Sunday before Christmas (we had the usual chocolate advent calendar too so don’t go thinking we were all weird) – its strange that this was more fun than eating the chocolate?
  • Pillow cases on the foot of the bed filled with presents to open on Christmas morning before our mum and dad got up.
  • We made Christmas cake’s as gifts & hundreds of mince pies
  • We had a Christmas tape of favourite Christmas songs that we used to play – a lot!
  • We decoratied the tree with my dad who was as nuts about Christmas decorations as we were. I remember one Christmas in particular when he was let loose with fake snow – I think they had to replace the windows after that!
  • We visited Santa in the local shopping centre – usually the Ridings in Wakefield which was dire and the gift was usually broken by the time we got home but still magical.
  • My favourite tradition of all time was on Christmas Eve; me and my little sister Gillian used to watch “Santa Claus the Movie” every year without fail – I cant help but smile when I watch that film!

Now I don’t know about you but I don’t seem to have many traditions, so I’m going to change that and try and incorporate some of the traditions from my childhood, which made Christmas all the more magical!

We don’t do too badly but I think some more effort is needed – here’s what we do each year:

  • Andrew always reads “The night before Christmas” on Christmas eve, to me & Sophie.
  • We make reindeer food in the afternoon (breakfast oats and glitter) and then go outside in our pyjama’s (all of us) just before bed and sprinkle it down the path
  • We always have a “real” Christmas tree which Andrew and Sophie choose.
  • When Sophie goes to bed we have a glass of wine & watch “It’s a wonderful life”.
  • I read “A Christmas Carol” every year, its such a lovely book, starting in early December and making it last till Christmas…

I’d love to hear what Christmas traditions you have or any suggestions for new ones for us, please leave a comment as I’d love to hear from you.

Landscape Photography {Windermere} – Family Photographer, Yorkshire

A little bit of a change on the blog today.  We’ve just got back from a trip to Windemere for a bit of break, so I thought I’d share some of my photos.  I’ve never been much of a fan of lanscape photography, I just dont have the patience, or the “eye” for that type of photography, but it made a nice change… though as you can see the views were a little less stunning than usual…it was just so foggy!

Though I won’t pretend to be a great landscape photographer, I like to take photos of the places we’ve been to put up at home.  Not sure which one to choose this time…which do you think?

Christmas Photography Gift Vouchers – they’re not just for Christmas

So have you started your Christmas shopping? Have you finished it? I have to admit that it’s a rare occasion that I manage to get any presents before December. Though I like to think that I wait until it feels Christmassy before I start – the reality is I’m just not that organised!

So this year while you struggle (like me) with what to buy your family (I am sure you’ve already started thinking about that friend or family member who, lets face it, already have everything they need); spare a thought for my lovely little Christmas vouchers, all sat patiently waiting for a new family to take them home.

Wonderful Christmas Gift Vouchers!

So once you come to the conclusion that your mum already has enough perfume, your brother & family could do without more gourmet chocolate and your best friend really doesn’t need another cook book (ok so my friends and family are in for a real treat this year!), why not consider a beautiful lifestyle shoot at their favourite Yorkshire location.

The vouchers can be used for a lifestyle photo session in Yorkshire (parks, stately homes etc) for up to 4 family members but can also be used for Maternity, Newborn, Family, Engagement, Kids & even Product Photography (not sure who might want this for Christmas but you never know…)

Better still the vouchers are valid for a whole year and there is something for everyone…

  • Shoot only ~ £25 (usual price £50)
  • Shoot and 10×8 print ~ £50 (usual price £100)
  • Shoot and DVD (10 images) ~ £100 (usual price £175)
  • Shoot and large canvas ~ £150 (usual price £218)

After the session they’ll also have the opportunity to purchase more prints/products (though there is no requirement to do this) and get to use a select number of the images on facebook.

TO PURCHASE simply place your order below:

Type of voucher

Payment are taken via paypal however it doesn’t mean that you have to have a paypal account – it works like a normal checkout system. However if you would prefer to pay by cash or cheque just let me know. Last Orders – 16th December (to ensure I can get them to you before Christmas).

You’ll then receive your gift voucher by post within the week – a fancy little package to give as a gift!
