I’ve been doing photography for 4 years and felt it was time to reveal myself – so that you get an idea of who I am .
So here goes…
Hello. I’m Maryanne, I’m 34 years old (35 on May 12th), 5ft 6 (almost) & I live with my husband Andrew and cat Maximillion, in Woolley Grange just outside Barnsley. We’re lucky to be visited every weekend by Andrew’s 7 year old daughter Sophie Rose. Sophie tells people I’m her older sister (much older) I suppose its easier to explain for a child (though there are always strange looks when people realise I’m married to her Dad) and I’m very honoured that she has deemed me part of her family.
I’ve written 3 cookbooks which have been published by Hamlyn Publishing much to everyone’s surprise, including mine! I love learning (if only I had at school…) and can always be found halfway through a technical photography book, a business book, and a crime thriller (though not necessarily in that order). Though my favourite book’s are Pride & Prejudice, A Christmas carol & Lightning (obscure book by Dean Koontz, not really a classic but a great story!)
I’ve been “doing” photography for the last 4 years, ever since Andrew bought me a DSLR camera one christmas and I became addicted to photography. Though if I’m honest I was pestering my mum and dad for a dark room when I was about 12,,, so perhaps it was meant to be. It’s taken me 15 years to discover what I want to be when I grow up, and I’m trying to make up for lost time.
For the time being I don’t get to do my passion every day of the week. A mortgage and a need for holidays means that I’m working on my photography business every other spare minute I get, when I’m not at my day job. It doesn’t affect my photography or the quality, it just means that I truly appreciate every photo session I get the chance to be a part of. But only having weekends & evenings does mean that I have to plan everything very carefully.
When you ask me to do your photos, you’re not just hiring a photographer, you’re hiring me, I’ll be your new friend. I’ll make sure you look great in the photos, I’ll get you to relax and try to make you laugh, if you’re pulling a funny face I’ll tell you, if you’re hair sticks up or you have something you want to hide I’ll sort it (personally I don’t like showing my teeth or my bum…) – I want you to see yourself and think “wow – I look great!”.
So that’s me for now, I intend to make the blog a little friendlier over the coming months. I’ll still be posting my latest sessions but there is more to me than just photography, so I’d like to include you in my own little world and beyond…
So if you’d like to find out more about my photography, or fancy a chat, then get in touch on 07894 150072.
