Tonight I had the pleasure of meeting (and photographing) Laurra and Maria Nalty of One Life Ceremonies at Temple Newsam for some new publicity type shots. The light was perfect and as you can see, after the initial camera shyness wore off, they both got the hang of it…

Deciding what to wear for your photography session is really tricky. In fact it’s difficult enough if it’s just you having your photos done, but if you’re styling your whole family it can be particularly problematic. Should you go for co-ordinating colours, matching outfits, same colour shirts??
Now I can’t for a second suggest that I have enough personal style to recommend a certain way of dressing, or what to tell you what is “trendy” at the moment, however I’m good with colour and hope these style guides will give you ideas for styling a session.
To me it’s all about colour, contrast and pattern and above all feeling comfortable in your clothes. My personal favourites are bright colours and blues (any type whatsoever), kids in tutu’s and fancy shoes…

I met up with Zoe and her two boys on saturday afternoon at Morley Park. I hadnt been there since I was a kid and couldnt really remember it, but it was great for the photos! The weather was great (again) and the boys were really good fun, so we had lots of tree climbing and tipple tails…

I met up with Katie and Tilly yesterday at their lovely house in York for some photos. The weather was perfect and Katie & Tilly were ready for their close ups! Tilly was wonderful, she happily played while I took the photos and didnt even mind all the clothes changes!

I met up with Grace and her Mummy & Daddy on saturday. Grace’s mum wanted a new photo for their living room, which they’ve just had redecorated in Turquoise and Brown… so we got a cute turquoise tutu and I got lots of shots of Grace playing in thw livingroom (see the last photo). The intention is to get it blown up on a canvas (which I can supply!) and make a feature of it.
